Thirsty work
|
We have followed all the instructions for our new table, washing it down well to get out the extra red sap out of the wood, and now it needs oiling to protect it. Yesterday, I decided to tackle the oiling. I couldn't believe how happily the wood soaked up the oil. It will take a few days for the shine to wear off, but it looks great, now just 8 chairs to do.

Beverly I love your new table, what character it has. What type of oil did you use on it? I have some furniture here that's about 19 years old, in fantastic shape but it's looking like it could use a good coat of oil.
Have a fantastic day!
I used a clear decking oil, which is suitable for outdoor furniture. It has taken a lot longer to dry than I expected - I think that is due to the high humidity.
Thanks, I'll have to check the local hardware store and get something as soon as time permits.
I hope that your table dries for you soon!
Hi Bev. It's been too long since my last visit to your blog. New furniture, an anniversary, birthdays, lost rings and home schooling. Stay happy Bev. I know you will. L Sandy xx
