On Saturday afternoon we noticed our Baby Possum on the ground near the Palm Trees in our garden. We had previously seen it up the trees with its parents, and to see it during daylight on the ground was most surprising. Ivan immediately fetched a banana and it began eating it without hesitation. It was then that Sarah noticed that it had a hurt front right foot. We phoned our local Pet Store owner - Tara, who raises native birds and also possums. She said to bring it in for her to look at.
Tara was wonderful handling this lovely female possum which the girls named 'Wattle.' Today we received a very sad phonecall from Tara which let us know that Wattle has a broken front leg. This means that she is unlikely to ever return to our home, but hopefully will recover enough to be released into a safe environment.

Just thought you might enjoy a few lovely photos of our beautiful baby possum.

The photo of 'the girls' is just delightful, Beverly. How sad for "Wattle" ~ I wish her a speedy recovery.
Awww I never knew that possums were so adorable. How sad that she has a broken leg, I hope she is on the mend.
Have a wonderful day Beverly!
